Ashley Stiven

Clinical Director and Certified Physiotherapist

Ashley Stiven is an experienced healthcare and sports medicine professional with over 20 years in the industry. Ashley is a results-driven, highly skilled, certified physiotherapist who is also a business leader. He is dedicated to his work and takes pride in the care that he provides as well as the leadership qualities that have helped him grow in the healthcare and medicine field. 

Ashley Stiven Education and Early Career 

Ashely Stiven knew he wanted to make a career in helping others with exercise and fitness. He decided to attend university at the University of Otago. In 1992, Ashley completed a Bachelor of Physical Education (BPE) degree, which helped to lead him to his current career path. After a short time, Ashley Stiven realized that he wanted to go into physiotherapy and went back to attend the University of Otago. There, he studied physiotherapy and received a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) degree in 1996. 

After completing his degree, Ashley Stiven began working for a private practice called Back in Motion Physiotherapy. For two years he worked to gain and expand his knowledge of his field and how to properly implement techniques. Continuing to gain experience, Ashley Stiven began working at Sportsmed Otago Physiotherapy Ltd. while working towards a postgraduate diploma again at the University of Otago. He completed his PGD in Sportsmedicine in 2003, which had helped him to advance in his career. 

Ashley Stiven’s Career in Physiotherapy

Once Ashley completed his PGD in Sportsmedicine, he quickly began a new role at Southland Physiotherapy Ltd. He helped to open this clinic and build it to one of the largest in the region for years. Ashley also helped to open Mosgiel Physiotherapy, and Eclipse Health Wellness Performance. Ashley Stiven has helped countless clients with their recovery, especially within complex sporting injuries. 

He has historically worked at Eclipse Health Wellness Performance where he was the Clinical Director. He managed the clinic while assessing the physio and musculoskeletal needs of patients and providing proper treatment.

These clinics that Ashley Stiven has helped to open and operate often work with various sports teams and professional athletes. Ashley was also the Physiotherapist for the Otago Rugby Team from 2005 to 2017 and the High-Performance Medical Consultant for the Honda Professional Rugby Team. Ashley has taken on various duties in these roles and has gained extensive experience in areas of business such as budgeting and management.

Aside from his numerous titles and roles within physiotherapy, Ashley Stiven is also a member of The New Zealand Society of Physiotherapists. He became a member to network with other individuals who hold high standards of care in physiotherapy across the country. 

When Ashley Stiven is not working, he is very passionate about keeping fit and healthy. He also enjoys gardening, watching movies, reading, and spending time with family.
